Michelle Michelle has always considered her self as a mover and a shaker, taking over the lounge room dancing to her dads records, and then on to classical ballet during the first 12 years of her life.
Having always used it as a way to let loose, Michelle realised that dance was an art form which allowed her personal expression and realease. So in 2000 she began her training in bellydance with Shimmy in Canberra.
Her move to Melbourne in the same year saw her training with Azura, particulary in Turkish influenced movement. Through Azura she performed at Melbourne’s Moomba festival, and other events in the city.
She has performed for Birthday parties, festivals, restaurants, and on cruiseships.
She is a passionate traveller, and has visited Egypt and turkey, experiencing and workshoping Bellydance there. Michelle also trained at London’s pineapple studios.
In 2007 upon return from her travels she joined Aradia at Spellbound, where she has explored industrial bellydance, and also pops in to teach a class here and there.
Having always been passionate about sound and music, Michelle has studied piano, and darbukka, in the past. She is trained in and works as a creative in audio-visual production, and through bellydance she has been able to explore another aspect of ‘audio & visual’.
When asked to describe her style, she says responsive, as that is the state she is in when she hears music. However Michelle does like the fire of Turkish influenced dance.
